WASHINGTON (Scrap Register): The US Division of Commerce has introduced the initiation of recent antidumping and countervailing obligation investigations to find out whether or not imports of normal metal welded wire mesh from Mexico are being dumped in the USA, and to find out if producers are receiving unfair subsidies.
Within the AD investigation, Commerce will decide whether or not imports of normal metal welded wire mesh from Mexico are being dumped within the US market at less-than-fair worth. The alleged dumping margins vary from 64.07 to 152.68 %.
Within the CVD investigation, Commerce will decide whether or not Mexican producers of normal metal welded wire mesh are receiving unfair authorities subsidies. Commerce will examine 16 subsidy packages, together with preferential lending, tax packages, tariff exemptions, grants, and regional subsidies.
If Commerce makes affirmative findings in these investigations, and if the US Worldwide Commerce Fee determines that dumped and/or unfairly sponsored imports of normal metal welded wire mesh from Mexico materially injure or threaten materials harm to the US business, Commerce will impose duties on these imports within the quantity of dumping and/or unfair subsidization discovered to exist.
The petitions have been filed by Insteel Wire Merchandise Firm (Mount Ethereal, N.C.), Mid-South Wire Firm (Nashville, Tenn.), Nationwide Wire LLC (Conroe, Texas), Oklahoma Metal & Wire Co (Madill, Okla.), and Wire Mesh Corp. (Houston).
The 2019, imports of normal metal welded wire mesh from Mexico have been valued at roughly USD 46.7 million.
